Gardens Grow to Feed the Hungry
Look for them..they are popping up everywhere. Community Gardens that are planted and tended to by resident of Chester County that want to make a difference in the lives of others in our area.
Our biggest garden project to date has been the Coatesville Community garden where Trinity Episcopal has two Gleaning beds and 13 community beds. Our thanks to Bulldog Construction for providing the bobcat front loader for the soil!
Give:
We work everyday to feed 28,312 children, 66,421 adults, and 17,832 elderly in Chester County.We store and distribute the gleaned and gathered food to over 60 organizations located throughout Chester County. This includes 27 food cupboards and various group feeding sites.
Gather:
We gather donated non-perishable food from corporate food drives, community groups, churches and individuals. We also coordinate the distribution of federal and state purchased food.
Glean:
We plant and harvest fresh produce in partnership with over 40 farms and community gardens and with the significant help of more than 600 volunteers.
